James P. Timilty Middle School

The Timilty Middle School has 662 students in grades 6-8. Over 20% of its students receive special education services, and 13% are English Language Learners.

Timilty MS is a citywide school, open to students from all Boston neighborhoods, and offers special programs for English Language Learners who speak Spanish. It is an Extended Learning Time school, one of four in Boston to receive state funds for a longer school day. With more than 20 Teacher Residents, mentors, and graduates at the school this year, the Timilty has a significant cadre of BTR teachers working to build upon the established sense of community and dedication to high achievement. Significant family involvement, a Saturday Scholars program, and targeted professional development for teachers enhance the school’s focus on student learning.
